Lesson 24 of 25 · 7 min
A walk through every section of the March statement
Eleven printed facts, read in order, reconstruct the month; the two facts that matter most still sit off the page.
This lesson is a single pass down the page above, in the order the blocks are printed. Each block contributes a fact the next block will use. At the end, two facts the pass can compute are still not on the page.
The walk, section by section:
- Header. Halden & Wren Private Credit, Northreed Holdings LLC, HW-7721-4408-19, HW-SB-44107, 1–31 March 2026, statement date 2 April 2026, Act/360. Matching key and day-count convention.
- Rate schedule. Index named, spread 1.85%, fixings 5.12% then 5.37%, reset 12 March, stated rates 6.97% then 7.22%. Eleven days and twenty days.
- Balance. Opening $1,847,220.00, draws $0.00, legs $3,934.07 and $7,409.40, total $11,343.47, close $1,858,563.47, limit $2,400,000.00, undrawn at open $552,780.00.
- Positions. Five rows. Calder 3,100 × $593.55 = $1,840,005.00 at 35% = $644,001.75. Totals $6,032,795.00 market, $3,277,251.25 lending, blend 54.32%.
- Foot. LTV on market value at close 30.81%. Maintenance 70% of market value.
Now the two multiplications the walk already has the ingredients for. Trigger at close: $1,858,563.47 ÷ 0.70 = $2,655,090.67. Headroom: $6,032,795.00 − $2,655,090.67 = $3,377,704.33, which is 55.99% of the book. Neither figure is printed. The walk also does not recover February's $9,959.99, any intra-month mark, or a reserved right's size. Those absences survive a perfect reading of every section.
A complete walk of a complete-looking page still ends on computed trigger, computed headroom, and an agreement you have not opened. That is the shape of the document, not a failure to read it.
Key terms
- Section
- One printed block: header, rate schedule, balance, positions, foot. Each block's outputs are the next block's inputs.
- Walk
- Reading the blocks in order and forming every pair before leaving the page. The method this lesson performs once, in full.
- Residual absence
- A fact the walk can compute or must fetch elsewhere and that the page still does not print. Trigger and headroom are the first kind.
Worked example
The month, as the page states it, then as the walk completes it
One pass down the Halden & Wren March 2026 statement.
- Stated rates from the schedule
- 6.97% for 11 days, 7.22% for 20
- Legs from those rates
- $1,847,220 × 0.0697 × 11 ÷ 360 = $3,934.07; $1,847,220 × 0.0722 × 20 ÷ 360 = $7,409.40
- Close from the legs
- $1,847,220.00 + $11,343.47 = $1,858,563.47
- Blend from the table
- $3,277,251.25 ÷ $6,032,795.00 = 54.32%
- Printed LTV
- $1,858,563.47 ÷ $6,032,795.00 = 30.81%
- Unprinted trigger and headroom
- $2,655,090.67 and $3,377,704.33 (55.99%)
Every printed pair held. The two figures that describe a fall to the test were still formed off the page, at the end of a walk that missed nothing printed.
Check yourself
Walk the March statement from header to foot. Which two closing figures can you form that the page does not print, and which printed pair confirms that the interest block and the close belong to the same month?
